Exterior EPS Core, Plaster-Coated Window & Cornice Mouldings – FAQ

What are exterior mouldings made from?

The exterior mouldings are manufactured from high-density expanded polystyrene (EPS) and finished with a specialised quartz-resin plaster coating, providing a lightweight yet robust construction with a premium appearance.

Are these mouldings waterproof?

Yes. The outer plaster coating forms a sealed, water-resistant surface that prevents moisture ingress and eliminates the risk of warping or swelling.

Are the mouldings fire-rated?

Yes. All EPS exterior mouldings are rated A2-s3, d0 under the EN 13501-1 standard. This rating confirms that they have very limited combustibility, produce unrestricted smoke, and do not emit flaming droplets or particles.

Can they be used in the UK climate?

Yes. The mouldings are specifically designed to endure British weather conditions, including frost, rain, and UV exposure, without deterioration or loss of appearance.

Do they crack or deteriorate over time?

No. The quartz-resin plaster coating is impact-resistant, UV-stable, and does not crack or degrade when correctly installed and maintained.

Can they be cleaned with a pressure washer?

Yes. Low-pressure washing is safe for these mouldings. However, abrasive tools or harsh chemicals should be avoided.

What exterior profiles are available?

We offer one of the UK’s widest selections of decorative exterior profiles, including:

Belt Cornices

Crown Cornices

Quoins

Above Window Cornices

Window Frame Cornices

Windowsill Cornices

3D Decorative Wall Panels

Bespoke Cornice Mouldings

Are custom mouldings available?

Yes. Bespoke designs can be manufactured to meet specific architectural requirements. This includes new profiles, modified dimensions, and factory-made end caps, subject to minimum order quantities and lead times.

Do you offer made-to-measure solutions?

Yes. Profiles can be produced in custom lengths and configurations to match precise project needs.

Installation and Finishing

How are the mouldings fixed to the wall?

Installation is carried out using strong solvent-free exterior adhesive. For large or heavy profiles, mechanical fixings are also advised. Mouldings are easy to cut with a mitre saw or mitre box for accurate joints.

Are installation instructions provided?

Yes. Step-by-step guides and adhesive recommendations are available to ensure proper installation and finishing.

Can the mouldings be painted?

Yes. All mouldings are supplied pre-primed and ready for finishing. We recommend using high-quality water-based exterior paints for best results and long-term durability.

Handling, Storage and Delivery

How are the mouldings packaged for delivery?

Products are securely packaged in reinforced cardboard or protective crates depending on the profile type and order size. All shipments are arranged to minimise the risk of damage in transit.

Is it safe to store the mouldings outdoors before installation?

Short-term outdoor storage is acceptable if the products are kept dry and protected. For long-term storage, indoor or covered space is strongly recommended to maintain the finish.
